Caught Again
caught again
with greedy fingers in the till
and hungry eyes –
that show all that is ill
caught again
lies have formed a mountain
they scramble to the top
eat up the half-truths
it’s impossible for them to stop
caught again
fat fingers and pain that lingers
bruised and battered
realising that honesty hurts
and no one said they mattered
all those dreams in the parade
disgraced and then shattered
caught again
pretending once more
a desert island castaway
but always left by the shore
