Throw It Onto The Fire – Written Monday 17th May 2010 (Aged 35)

Throw It Onto The Fire

can i not take about the things –
that plunder me?
the comments,
that dig out my pain
the mines that shovel shit –
for very little gain
the boisterous bastards –
that flirt as highway men –
and pillage my name
let me accept –
this lack of respect
chews a greedy chicken leg
let me throw it onto the fire
can i talk about the chisel –
the gnaws at my marble arches
that rich bitch,
that makes valuable passes
could i be the boy –
that pepys once boxed around the ears
could i be the evanescent man
london and dickens used to fear

James Garratt – Monday 17th May 2010
