Confused Adults – Written Thursday 5th October 2006 (Aged 31)

Confused Adults

all these issues that stem from childhood
the ones that leave us as confused adults
we pick over the shards of the smashed window
the window,
that once allowed us to stare so easily into our soul
we play with guilt,
and we wrap it around nervous fingers
hoping that the place we have built
has no memories that linger
those of us who have licked the spoon of humility
we blame a part of us,
no matter how far we have moved forwards
you cannot starve children
all these issues that stem from childhood
the ones that leave us as confused adults
