Comfortable Skin

are you not comfortable in your own skin
do you not understand those around you
do you not accept,
those who do not behave as you do
so, are you always right then
and are we just a marching band
marching in a solitary procession
marching to the tune of a cold grey death
did no one teach you the value of you
did no one point out the importance of breath
did you never find the self confidence
has self confidence always been one step ahead
have you always run scared
and undervalued people and what lies inside
are you not comfortable with yourself
have you always pretended
and have you always wanted to be anyone else
can any of it, any of it be ever mended
