Aspirin For My Headache – Written Monday 9th September 1997 (Aged 22)

Aspirin For My Headache

the creative headache keeps me awake
writing is the aspirin
and it’s not me being pretentious
it’s part of the conscious
the subconscious and all that
it’s all there,
blurred from fiction through to fact
i just want to write
it is my form of utopia
it’s a place to sleep and a place to live
a place to hide and a place to die
a place to laugh and a place to cry
to me, it is everything
it’s where i can be a human being v writing is the aspirin
that keeps the headache away
it’s the feeling that helps solves my day
it’s my version of what i want to say
the need to create,
it’s born out of my impatience
and my belief that we must not wait
we must enjoy ourselves whilst we can
i just want people to understand
writing is the aspirin
it makes me feel better,
and it helps me understand my feelings
writing is my aspirin,
the type that leads to easier living
