You Are The Poem I Have Never Written

you are the poem i have never written
the kind of poem I’ve only ever dreamed of
a poem which is much less sad
you are the poem i’ve never written
and the one,
i probably never will
the type that wins a prize
the one that makes you feel you are the poem
the one that makes you feel alive
but the one that remains just out of reach
the one,
that no creative writing class could ever teach
you are the poem i’ve never written
the one that changes lives
the one that captivates us all
the one that truly defines how we feel inside
you are the poem i’ve never written
and the one,
i will probably never make real
because when you are this smitten
it is almost impossible to express how you feel
