Tool Box
life’s tool box –
was either empty
or poorly equipped
would have helped more
when you find yourself in bits
because when a spanner or wrench
never truly fits,
it is no wonder that when life presents itself
you feel poorly equipped
life’s tool box –
not given when childhood was your state
screwdrivers never found
to screw in your mental state
no bolts,
to anchor you to secure ground
and raw plugs,
never truly found
trying to hang up your speakers
so you could broaden your unique sound
life’s tool box –
gradually putting things together
as you work outside –
in all kinds of weather
finding things that you can actually do
taking hold of learned helplessness
and making sure it is unscrewed
add in plans and instructions
in life that is all you can do
no one is prepared –
for the complexity of self construction
