Sorry – Written December 2007 (Aged 32)

Sorry

all i ever wanted –
is for you to say sorry
not said,
because you feel you should
but a sorry that is meant
and i was certain you could
but it never came
just wave after wave
of the usual blame
a multitude of excuses
accepting responsibility –
does not rest upon your frame
why would you betray my trust
did you mistake its ruby glow –
for turgid rust?
i told you things in confidence
i thought you respect that
i thought it would strength –
our dependence
all i ever wanted –
is for you to say sorry
a call,
or a meeting face to face
for you to explain,
why you tore me apart
has the past so damaged you
that it becomes okay to break a heart
