A Big Dose of Their Medicine

i took a big dose of their medicine
and i nearly choked
as those put downs –
were rammed down my throat
yet, despite my pleading sounds
i felt the insults,
as they flew at me thick and fast
and as i began to drown
she screamed out her desperation
but she never said what she meant
she bared her scars –
but never her dreams
i took a big dose of their medicine
and i nearly choked
she said so many things
yet, she never really spoke
instead she chose to flirt with shadows –
and sickening innuendo
i had to find her secrets before i could know
but now her medicine has made me sick,
i know it is time for me to go
