Some Distance Away – Written Monday 31st December 2007 (Aged 32)

Some Distance Away

hypocrisy never strikes you –
it remains –
some distance away
stupidity never taps you on the shoulder
it never points out –
the stupidity of what you say
and compassion –
that never grabs you –
with its arms around your frame
and selfishness has convinced you –
that peoples and feelings are the same
and then with stunning ease –
self doubt pollutes the thinking of your brain
of course,
you plead as a victim
with a placard often written
you row in a circle in a failing lifeboat
you blame everything on everybody else
but i am sorry the truth is –
you have only ever been a victim
and a victim of your self
