In Their Voice
it’s in their voice
in their sigh
it’s like a storm
rolling across my sky
it’s a reflected truth
a chastised lie
it hides in hedgerows
with telling eyes
it’s ever present
and cannot be missed
hungry and waiting
others notice,
it’s in their hug
the long goodbye
it labours long
and hankers after the prize
