Wrong Bus – Written Thursday 13th April 2023 (Aged 48)

Wrong Bus

i got here by mistake
wrong bus
train was late
i might have walked,
but i got here by mistake
an accident –
that occurred
when i was on my way –
to somewhere else
i got here by mistake
wrong train
took a different bus
trams felt nice
but rails had rust
made decisions
not by choice or idea
change happened
other things pulled me near
no great design
no architects dream
no taking down walls
and no steel beams
i got here by mistake
i found myself here
and not over there
i got here by mistake

    1. Thank you. That’s really kind :). Most of my writing ends up going through themes or phases because they’re written at similar points. This is kind of connected to I Worked Hard. I went ‘old skool’ for this in terms of style – quick short lines and nothing too complicated. There was going to be an extra bit at the end but I’ve left it out to keep it as written. It’s that theme again, life happens despite the plans you make (John Lennon ish quote). It’s all okay in the end or work out in some shape or fashion. I like transport in my writing :).

      1. I’ve always used humour as a bit of coping mechanism and i think, when i was younger, you could be caught between being the ‘joker’ and not taking life seriously. I made jokes because I could, it gained attention and it was a way of controlling situations… But it wasn’t quite who I wanted to be or how I wanted to be seen. That’s where that part of the poem comes from. Then as you get older you ease into these things 🙂 🙂 🙂

      2. Very true. I think we spend so much time (along the way) just trying to find our place… and then, if we get lucky, we wake up one day & see, that we’re already there. 🙂
