Hold On Tight
my life –
can easily embarrass me
stupid behaviour –
from a deranged –
mentally unwell thrill seeker
just self destruction
with expensive running sneakers
drinking up my ego –
from cheap plastic beakers
and that –
on occasion has been my life
looking for hope –
in a drawer full of knives
self abuse to myself and to others
blinking back the moments
under stolen duvet covers
what was it all about?
cheap attention and ready made sex
friendship stories to collect
a sticker album –
of faded once safe bets
but, well, here i am
opinions are just one night stands
or the gallows –
from where your self worth can hang
i have always tried to learn in life
and as i progress –
i make sure i hold on very tight

Hold On Tight – Written Thursday 4th May 2023 (Aged 48)

“looking for hope –
in a drawer full of knives”
… such strong lines. That poem is filled to the brim with raw emotion – poignant and painful. Excellent choice of words!

Thank you. That’s how it feels sometimes. I liked these lines as well 🙂
