Fighting Tooth And Nail
when it matters to me
i tell you, it feels real
it feels like nothing else
it’s as if there is somebody else
i am not myself when i feel low
i feel so below,
more below the level than i can imagine
i can tell you ghost stories
because my ghosts are still around
it’s the truth,
and if the truth seems daunting
it’s not as strange –
as the constant haunting
and into our memories –
we can try to flee
but with more media images than sense
it’s hard to maintain a sense of reality
when it matters to me
i will fight tooth and nail
i can tell you that there is nothing worse
than knowing that you have failed
just because you are yourself
