Leaning On My Beliefs – Written Saturday 27th September 1997 (Aged 22)

Leaning On My Beliefs

you’ve got a crutch to lean on
you’ve got a free illusion –
that cuts through the confusion
but,
it is just that…
just an illusion
so illusions bring contentment
we’re all looking for an easy way out
or an easy answer
but the equation that life is
can never be simply worked out
there is so much we do not know
so many things we’re not aware of
so many,
so how can you be sure
no one knows why memories live on –
in the guise of spirits
no one knows how some people have insight
a kind that always seems right
god gave us freewill
if there is a god that is
i guess if enough people believe
then a god will grow from that need
but that is for them,
and not me,
i will reside in my spirituality
watching the drips roll down my dreams
and then onto the seal of my sanity
as i reside here leaning on my beliefs
