You Make Me Wonder – Written Monday 6th October 1997 (Aged 22)

You Make Me Wonder

you make me wonder and stare at my walls
who knows what beckons
in the delicate black night we are called
i tip-toe across the boards
i’m like a well spent actor
who’s script is fatally flawed
i’m the part time mime artist
who is always ignored
and if you’re searching for bliss
i act out a silver screen drama
that shouldn’t be missed
you make me sit up and take notice
but only for me,
to cringe at your actions
playing out teenage angst
the makeup runs down your face
the badly chosen clothes
the drink you drink is only for affect
and not for it’s taste
i’m old enough to know better
well, that’s the way it’s meant to be
but i am a half hearted joker
an escaped prisoner who still isn’t free
i would play poker
by my face has never been right you see
you make me wonder and glad to be me
