One, Oar Much Madness
the world is full of lunatics –
on a boat to nowhere
one oar much madness
the views we have –
may be shared apiece
but on the boat of madness
they are all looking for a beach
one oar, much madness
with lonely sinking lives
with washed up husbands
and made up lonely wives
with houses back to back
and no meadow of fresh air
when the best years have left
it’s hard to care
the world is full of lunatics
or a boat to nowhere
one oar, much madness

One Oar, Much Madness – Written Tuesday 12th February 2002 (Aged 26)

The first lines made me smile – so true. A subtle, and somewhat humorous view of the harsh reality of so many of us. Beautifully crafted.
