Chronology

it’s 1974 –
what can two people do
they could have a child
‘accident’s, happen

it’s 1975 –
it’s the first year to be alive
and, ‘accidents’, happen
what can two people do
they can try and raise a child
but not let their love come through

it’s 1982 –
what can two people do
they could give up the illusion
the loving reality that’s not true

it’s 1991 –
what can one person do
take themselves back to day one
and start all over again
after all, ‘accidents’, did happen

it’s 2002 –
i look at calendars
accidents will not happen to us
it’s just me and you
let’s never repeat the past
