Unlived Days – Written Friday 24th August 2013 (Aged 38)

Unlived Days

she never got to buy shortbread in lynmouth
she never got to see the cats in uffculme
she never never travelled around devon
and she never got to see its beautiful scenery
as it passed by
she never got to paddle in the water
with her asking us to try
she never got the chance to know you or see me thrive
but do we ever make the most of it all
when people are alive,
she never got to have meal on a sunday in beer
we will never take her to ashhill
such beauty is always near,
she never got to experience the devon rain
and the way it suddenly clears
she never bought a postcard from budleigh salterton
and she never found the fudge stall at plymtree fair
all the things in our lives,
and she is not there…
she never got to buy knick knacks in dawlish
or sit upon our bungalow chairs
or realise,
we still think long and hard about her not being here
