Bloom – Written Friday 30th August 2013 (Aged 38)

Bloom

i wish –
they would not compare so much
i wish they would –
see the beauty in themselves
i know, i know, i know
just words…
words falling too easily from a mouth –
that mouths i love you
perhaps easily but with absolute intent
i wish they would –
stop crucifying themselves
fixed as they are to a wheel of comparison
and in a way just enjoy
do not be so full of self loathing
which of course was planned –
by parents for whom –
life could never quite be in full bloom
and for whom weeds grew too soon
i wish they would –
stop this self, this self loathing
and this self, self destruction
poured over pages i do not agree with
i love them,
for what it’s worth let me show them their gifts
