Breathe In Me – Written Tuesday 6th June 2023 (Aged 48)

Breathe In Me

in the morning i sit in the lounge
i let peacefulness and quiet –
overwhelm me in silent sound
let the stress evaporate
the anxiety drown and then,
clutching a cup of tea i sit down
and i breathe in me
this quiet point in my day
the time when i just have me
before i flick the switch
and i become the person i am paid to be
the person i need to be –
so i can function in the world
the person is far removed –
from that moment in the morning
when i am sat down quietly
holding onto my cup of tea
enjoying the calm before the storms
and i just breathe in me
there is no noise around me
and i am sitting there, quietly
it’s a small amount of time
before the engines start up
and i have to flick the switch
because there is another person to be
in the morning i sit down in the lounge
and i hug my tea quietly
it’s the time when i breathe in me

    1. Thank you. I like having a different me for home and for work, I just need that time to breathe and get ready :). I’ve written a similar poem to this many years ago. It’s just that quiet time in the morning when it’s you and your thoughts. For me, it’s a really important part of the day :). You’re sort of mentally preparing for the day. 🙂 x
