Protecting Vulnerable Parts of Me
i remove myself, from so called trends
it’s the ripple effect
and the way bias does not bend
culture wars,
are never fought amongst friends
best head out and up onto the moors
find myself some isolation and peace
till the stress is not so sure
i can count the stars,
when i feel complete
i step back from the front line
because it does not make sense
everyone appears to be shell shocked
i know culture wars are fought in a dirty trench
of course, it is a privilege to be like this
but these days,
i am only classed as, ‘cis’
and my skin colour keeps me well
even when i stare into the abyss
and some easily narrated personal hell
i remove myself from so called trends
it’s exhausting,
and i never make new friends
the world was mad before all this
and it remains mad now
there are people who still stoop and bow
and you can never ask me to fight
but verbally, i lost in these rows
