Sandcastle Lows – Written Tuesday 6th June 2023 (Aged 48)

Sandcastle Lows

i looked at home town
not as someone –
who was dewy eyed or longing
and not to travel back –
or connect with its reality
it was familiarity
familiarity is the key
even the most unkempt devil
can entice me
especially when i feel to one side
and without connection
familiarity is enticing
but, poor old home town
it’s corrupted by its housing pricing
and the rubbish bags left outside –
they do not make it exciting
it’s just, for me,
it’s a well known quantity
an already known flawed reality
because it has open casket cemeteries
and nursing beds in droves
a tattiness in it’s bursary
and sandcastle lows
my interest actually, is only cursory
i look at home town
like memories are just a seaside filter
it’s just familiarity
there is no love now on those seaside beaches
no seaside nooks for me
it’s just, at this moment, at this point,
there is a false lure to any familiarity
