The Eye Make Up of Choice
people ask how you are
well, when you’ve had your pride and dignity stolen
it’s a little hard to remain intact
in fact, it’s a lot easier to be broken
but i do what is expected
i smile sweetly,
and make sure my generosity is extended
though the devil may not care
there are still people who deserve to be offended
people ask how you are
they can see sadness
it’s the eye make up of choice for the sad and lonely
but there is no crack in the voice
just a struggle to take a step forwards
people just don’t know what to say
there is no investigation
just a thief, one who has stolen your day
that’s the sad and lonely situation
and there is not much more to say
ignore my voice, ignore the smiles and the jokes
today i’m wearing the eye make up, the one of my choice
