Authenticity – Written June 2023 (Aged 48)

Authenticity

authenticity
i see it be secret –
when it comes to truth realities
or as an excuse to be selfish
i am not sure, after all,
we live in systems not on an island
we live with cause and effect
not solo dialects
authenticity
saying, i am being who i am
but who you is unpalatable
so then you authenticity must be a sham
it must be no more than selfish nature
grabbing the steed
no more than emotions displaying –
an uncomfortable greed
we all have parts of us tucked away
we all read different things
and we all experience different days
so what is personal truth then?
authenticity
it’s what i call a justification word
justifying behaviour and justifying actions
in this sense, we can all be authentic
i can assume that i have tried
but i am always caught in a tangle of feelings
and the delicate nature of compromise
