A Certain Type of Fuel
i do not feel any guilt
but luck,
certainly does have a curious taste
i do feel time –
and its tremendous haste
am i asleep –
or am i awake?
there is no conspiracy or actual fate
of course,
i may have contemplated such things –
all those years ago
but luck becomes evident with age
and in the end,
that is what you really know
and i have been lucky
not without pain or stupidity
but certainly lucky
what gave me luck is hardly relevant
because no answer exists
there were no magic decisions
it’s always been an unknown game of risk
maybe the trauma and insecurity
was a certain type of fuel
maybe that’s the reason
that explains all the lucky seasons
