Cannot Be Told

i cannot be told
too old
caught in the creases
of the grave and the told
caught in the fleeces
of those haunted by the cold
too old
to change my stupid head
too alive
to feel so dead
too passionate
to cut down my bed
i cannot be told
my humour
comes in unbridled packs
it cuts devil sharp
then it doubles back
too old
to feel my years
but i’m yours to cry those tears
