The Value
someone told me that i struggle
that i am unloved
that i am difficult
and burdened with a curse from a father
who could never do enough
but death,
has a chilling perspective
the beauty of your own life shines in the light
none of us can claim perfection
and each one of us is different
but surely,
every day alive is a day to be thankful
of course when they said those things
they were wrong
so incredibly and absolutely wrong
and as we huddle together in a time of grief
with people clinging to wreckage
on life’s tarnished barrier reef
we suddenly realise the value of each other
your scandalous words and cheap jibes
and even cheaper opinions
they to me are worthless
just a waste product from an empty shell
