Make Up The Past
you can blindly apply make up to a past
that fell and broke its leg
had a cast,
and then, when you needed it,
went too fast
you can squint,
play around when you should be believing
make a drink,
as your childhood feels like lightning
there you are,
trying to paint like enid blyton
when in reality –
you have never stop being frightened
you can blindly apply make up to a past
but it is the future that courts your glance
what went before did not last
but have you the courage to take that dance
