It’s Not the Sex I Need – Written June 2008 (Aged 33)

It’s Not the Sex I Need

take me home
and lay me down
it is not the sex i need,
but the holding
the belief and the holding

take me home
and lay me down
stroke my hair,
i need to believe once again
believe that i can share
and trust is not left bleeding

just sometimes
it’s not the sex i need
just hold me,
and tell me that you believe
lovers come and go
and true friends set you free
so as you carefully lay me down
believe me, it’s that i need
