Goodbye to Jenny
she said goodbye to jenny
and she said hello to empty
all i could do –
was peel back the curtains
in the hope that –
i would find so many
and i know –
what the dreamers saw –
costs more than a penny
that is why –
she said goodbye to jenny
and hello to empty
i know that –
there are the stars in our hallway –
as the world carries on
and i know that she is not here
i know that jenny has gone
all i could do –
was peel back the tin can
and know that the drink tasted good
but then,
i always knew you would make it
out there, in the bright new world
away from those who only ever hate
she said goodbye to jenny
and we all said hello to empty
