I Watch Sailing Ships – Written Sunday 4th January 2009 (Aged 33)

I Watch Sailing Ships

i watch sailing ships as they sail past
i put my thoughts out for the night
and wonder if they can count stars
i wonder if they roam?
and what kind of toll does life charge?
especially when it comes to being yourself
i collect my estuary mud
when i cannot move forwards
i take a bite from the biscuit
when i am so utterly bored
and i follow those sailing ships
as soon as i see them moored

James Garratt – Sunday 4th January 2009
