I Do Miss You

i do miss you
and the thought of you –
being with someone else
is hard to bear
but i know it will happen
someone else will fill the gaps
that i could never fill
suddenly,
all the doubts you expressed
will be less real
and i will have to feel –
the failure and the loss –
of not being the one
and i know that it will happen
that thought saddens me
and because of that –
i have shut you out –
and I pretend you’re not there
i know that eventually –
with someone else you will share
i do miss you
