This Repeated Test – Written Wednesday 14th January 2009 (Aged 33)

This Repeated Test

cannot pursue second best
failing –
this repeated test
sweeping up –
the crumbs that are left
live happily –
in your unholy mess
find my begging bowl
and having nothing to collect
believe in myself
yet have no self respect
feed at your table
but you, without the cheque
failing –
this pointless test
the numbers and words lost
cannot pursue second best
cannot afford the rising cost
