Tiredness
tiredness has crept over my body
and it’s made its claim
i surrender to the land of sleep once again
my eyes hurt and somehow ache
i am forever rubbing my face
i’ve become my own self help group
for those who need coffee
for me it’s two sugars and black
i sleep at the weekend but it’s not enough
i feel the curtain of relaxation,
i feel its touch
tiredness has slumped in the thrones of my eyes
it’s gazumped the feeling of being alive
i go to smile and somehow forget who i am
the land of nod is a beautiful land
i wake up and collapse in the shower
my brain, with no way of finding its power
this feeling of tiredness just never goes
it’s the one outfit that i always wear
tired, creased and crumpled clothes
and this tiredness is a weight so hard to bear
