The Reach – Written Monday 24th July 2006 (Aged 31)

The Reach

for a child –
who was so put down
blamed and bullied
who’s anger
could not be tamed
and only ever inflamed
when smothered
with guilt ridden parental love
for this child
who now strides with confidence
as a husband
and as your friend
as your loved,
everything we try to mend
you give love
sweet comfort
to my fragile human being
for a child
so often emotionally abused
and left so fatally beached
you give me love
and the all important reach
