Convention
convention was never my calling
rather my personal hurdles
over which i keep falling
some people bang the drum of experience
shout about individuality
but never change their situation
i could have never left what i was born to
i could have never pretended it was perfect
some people do pretend,
and they spend years –
never speaking, only ever longing for an end
they play the role and they play the part
and they spend a lifetime nursing a broken heart
for all the paths that they never took
