The Younger Me – Written Saturday 5th July 2008 (Aged 33)

The Younger Me

have i let it go?
have i let youth –
leave a sorry trail?
the brighter eyes
of those years
seem washed away
with adult tears
the surprise –
held onto by fear
have i changed –
and does my sparkle
remain the same?
after all these years
i am not that person
not anymore
the younger me left quietly
it even closed the door
