I Did Not Mean To

i did not mean to fall in love with you
it happened by chance
in-between coffee and tea
and the dirty dishes that do a merry dance
to be truthful i came across it
in amongst my telephone bills
and the foxes that live in the garden
the cd’s stacked on the shelf
and the days in 1999
when i dreamed of being somebody else
i did not mean to fall in love with you
it happened in the living room
on the old settees
down by the golden promenade
and when you first held me
i found it,
in the ebb and flow of victorian streets
the song, ‘your loving arms’,
and the strong glam filled beats
it happened by chance when stuck on my own
i did not mean to fall in love with you
it happened by chance,
love grabbed me, then it pulled me up to dance
