Do Not Give In – Written Wednesday 15th February 2006 (Aged 30)

Do Not Give In

any kind of abuse is terrible
but to be the victim
to let it control you
it is surely far worse
of course,
my own brand and blend –
of childhood abuse –
is unforgivable
but to let yourself be beaten by it
to me, that is one step too far
it is true that few can avoid a scar
but to end up –
living your life in fear
with anxiety and a lack of self respect
a lack of confidence
then that is surely abuse –
taking first place
and claiming the prize
of course i would only ever ask
do not cut off your nose to spite your face
