Whistling The Same Old Song
you are what happens –
when a father leaves
and decides to never return
you are what happens –
when a mother remarries
but never learns
when another baby comes along
and they gurgle the truth –
of someone else’s song
you are what happens –
when you play second fiddle
when the reasons are the easiest riddle
you are what happens-
when downtrodden and browbeaten
turns on confidence and self respect
you are happens –
when there is abuse
and yet no one deals with the mess
you are what happens –
when people become victims of themselves
when they are so beaten
they just want to be somebody else
you are what happens –
when parents get it tragically wrong
when they carry on not changing
and they whistle the same old song
