I Am Alive – Written September 1996 (Aged 21)

I Am Alive

i am alive
every minute of the day
i am alive
every second, every moment
and i am alright
because i am alive
i am intense
because that is where i work
i love you,
because i am alive
everything i do
is like religious realisation
i am alive
and this is real life situations
i am positive,
because i am alive
i am weak because i am a human
and because i am alive,
i continue to write
i say, i feel, i am real
because i am alive
and i am working hard with you
because i know i can
we are all alive, all of us
and that is our black humoured luck
but i am so glad just to be alive
to be given something special
i know people,
and they can stand and laugh
but i am alive
and we need not be poles apart
