Standing In Clear Water – Written Thursday 5th September 1996 (Aged 21)

Standing In Clear Water

shine bright
hand tight
when it’s tough
when it’s risky
and when –
the water is rough
then,
roam the streets of your mind
explore alleyways of time
shine bright
got to fight
got to be brave
keep yourself above the stupidity
standing in clear water
that’s the place to be
not in the mudflats
that’s not the place to be pure
shine bright
shine for your future
standing there in clear water
that’s where –
your enlightened living –
will have bought you
especially when you are living well
and you shine bright
hold on tight
grab a ledge
but always shine bright

James Garratt – Thursday 5th September 1996
