Engraved
sarcasm crept in –
and put the kettle on
and it’s never really gone
perhaps stayed too long
once that i was born
did they imagine
that this is the path
i would tread
laughter crept in
found two glasses
and started on the gin
i made passes,
at the sweetest women
love crept in,
but it snuck back out
when i was nine
it’s departure –
was evident –
by the weeds in my mind
but i was saved
i was finally engraved
and eventually remade
