Broken Glass – Written Thursday 22nd September 2005 (Aged 30)

Broken Glass

they smashed a window –
and denied there was broken glass
they insisted there was no problem
then they broke a mirror
and denied that what they saw –
was not a true reflection
although the truth was –
that it was no longer there anymore
they painted walls –
of a childhood so young
and then they packed it away
pretending that no damage had been done
they dropped a cup
and it broke into two
they carried on blindly
not knowing what they could do
they stood in a room
one with a holy roof
they pointed the finger of blame
and remained so aloof
they looked on at everyone else
and denied that any damage was done
they should have looked at themselves
