Slipping Quietly – Written Monday 22nd July 1996 (Aged 21)

Slightly Quietly

slipping quietly –
out of the room of youth
hallways of splendid décor
they have displaced the truth
slipping quietly –
across the pathway of jagged rock
no fortune tellers
wait to tell my future
here i am,
standing alone,
almost remote
i stand and shiver
despite my heavy coat
i know only ghosts can deliver
it’s the past they hold
content to watch forever
as we be forever bold
slipping quietly –
amongst the sands of time
that drip through my fingers
as it fills up my mind
memories ever present still linger
as i wait by myself
and if was not so far away
i could be someone else
slipping quietly –
through the lands of indecision
wondering who we are
and who poses that question
