Ahead of Us – Written Sunday 20th July 1997 (Aged 22)

Ahead of Us

there is no way ahead
and one some day,
it is all going to be dead
so live well,
and live in the moment
satisfy your commercial hunger
there are plenty of chances –
in your bed
so rest easy on that old empty head
for they, they are easily led
there is no glass with my can
i will drink it straight,
with unsteady hands
i care too much to lose touch
friends is just about everything
but never really enough
there is blue in my sky
and a glint and a glisten in my eye
so if i wait, please do not sigh
there is a world waiting ahead of us
reach it we must, so let’s try
