Never Far From The Surface

why do any of us –
let ourselves –
feel humiliated
none of us are perfect
but every crash –
and every slammed door
surely,
contains frustration
that cannot be contained anymore
anger,
never far from the surface
it is always there,
destined to rise
and when it is on display
it tears me up inside
and as we wander –
through the future of our lives
we pay the price –
of those who went before
and the damage of their lies
