Traders – Written November 2013 (Aged 38)

Traders

i see the previous traders
the butchers,
the no so master bakers
and i –
inherit their shattered hurt
all the, ‘stuff’,
that refuses to work
they plied their trade
in past like lanes
so i sit on the wall
and play with the weather vane
i built an alter
of slightly obscured blame
i start to falter,
do these traders go insane?
i see steps
where people once climbed
just to reach their best
i see the curtain makers
those selling chains made of paper
the ill fitting tailors
and the long lost drapers
i inherit all the things –
of those previous traders
