Every Definition and Description

i was a mess –
in every definition and description –
of that word
i know,
everybody has heard this –
and thought,
oh no,
not another white middle class person –
pretending that their life –
is, ‘fucked up’,
just for, ‘shits and giggles’
but i was a mess
and there i was –
trying to be a husband,
friend,
work employee
and my,
how some people showed their, ‘care’
stigmatising my own mental health
whilst expecting me to manage theirs
but, come on,
there is no excuse –
i just didn’t have the emotional intelligence
the type that would’ve helped me to learn
to learn how to clear up after myself
how to be aware,
how to recognise toxicity in everybody else
and especially,
how to recognise toxicity in myself
and it feels like a really well worn story
in these memoirs of mine
where these moments of aspiration,
are like the sharpest spikes on my timeline
